What a one-day system actually is
Most of these systems work the same way: a custom-molded acrylic liner or wall panel set is manufactured to fit over your existing tub and walls, then installed directly on top of what's already there, usually in a single day or two.
The appeal is real. It's fast, it's far less disruptive than a gut remodel, and the finished look can be genuinely clean. For someone who needs the bathroom functional again quickly, or who doesn't want weeks of construction, that speed has real value.

What it does not do
A liner or panel system installs over the existing surface. It does not inspect, repair, or waterproof what's underneath. If there is already a slow leak, deteriorating subfloor, or a plumbing issue behind that old tub or wall, covering it with a new surface does not fix it — it hides it, sometimes for years, until it resurfaces as a bigger problem.
It also does not change the layout. If the drain is in the wrong place for how you actually want to use the room, or the door swing doesn't work, a liner system leaves all of that exactly as it was, just with a new surface on top.
What a full tile remodel gets you instead
A full remodel opens the wall down to the studs, which means the crew can actually see the condition of the framing, the subfloor, and the plumbing before anything gets covered up again. New waterproofing goes in behind new tile, on top of a substrate that was actually inspected.
It also means the layout can change — the drain can move, the shower can get bigger, a bench or niche can be added. None of that is possible with a system installed over the existing shell.
